There are many threats to global food supplies Essay The food security is a potential crisis to the world in terms of food supplies and food safety while the global population is projected to reach 9 billion by 2050 (Black, 2010). This essay, first of all, willjust focus on the threats to global food supplies from two main aspects: the threats caused by the objective factors in a broad sense, and the challenges attributed to the subjective factors which closely related to the human behavior.After the analysis of the problems, a number of feasible solutions will be suggested with the implications which will be further discussed accordingly. Â  Although population,conditions of technology and economy, and climate changes seem to be correlated with the human beings, they are both factors which cannot be changed by a simple policy or a short-term plan less than a decade. Therefore, in this essay, they are classified into the objective factors challenging the food supplies. As iscommonly known, population booming will directly lead to the severe shortage of land and water which are essential to the food production. Weak conditions in terms of technology and economy accelerate the ‘yield gap’ and aggravate the threat, making the poor area more vulnerable (Godfray, et al, 2010).Also, extreme weather along with the deterioration of global climate will damage the crops. Climate changes including global warming will change the seasonal patterns of pollination for crops which would influence their production (Slaght, 2012). Â   On the other hand, human factors contain more complicated reasons which are different from nations and industries. Generally, several main reasons can be concluded: mismanagement on ecosystems causes the dramatic decline in some species which eventually leads to the reduction of food supply(Slaght, 2012). Along with the regional industrialization, the exportations offruit and vegetables to developed countries displace local staple crops, which indirectly impacts the undeveloped areas suffering further from the malnourishment (Slaght, 2012). Besides, food waste du ring the transportation and processing, retail and home stages comprises a large proportion both in developed and developing countries (Godfray, et al, 2010).

The alcohol rushes through her body and she suddenly has a sense of feeling free and letting loose. The next thing the teenage girl remembers is waking up in a hospital bed to her mother crying by her bed side. The only thing her mom could say was â€Å"Honey, please wake up. Please be okay, I want you to be okay. Please do not ever make this mistake again. Please, Please.† The night before, her child drank an entire 750mL bottle of 80-proof Vodka then decided to drive home from the party. On her trip home, she had driven off the shoulder of the road, into a tree where she was lunged from her vehicle. She almost died that night, but she did not. Alcohol abuse leads to consequences that affect the body of teenagers, pose legal troubles, and can kill. According to How Stuff Works, â€Å"alcohol can be made through three different processes: fermentation and distillation, chemical modifications of fossil fuels, and the chemical combination of hydrogen with carbon monoxide† (How Stuff Works). The alcohol most commonly drank by individuals is made through the processes of fermentation, or the process of metabolizing of a sugar into an alcohol or acid, and distillation, or the process of purifying â€Å"mash† into the essential alcohol. In the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention classifies a standard drink as â€Å"any drink containing 0.6 ounces of pure alcohol† (CDC). Letting Go In each and every one of us, there lies a fear. There are lots of fears in this life but what we're talking about is a fear that dwells inside of us, where mostly we do not tend to reveal it outside. That fear has the potential to eat us up slowly from the inside till it consumes our whole being. This fear is there in each and every single human being no matter how he strong he may be both on the core and the outside. These fears are but many and differ from person to person but I choose to be specific here and that is the fear of letting go.People come and people go in our lives but what hurts the most than letting go of the one you love the most in your life, the one whom you once chose to never leave through thick and thin. People hurt us from time to time. Of course that's Life, No doubt about it, but HURT sometime can leave wounds in our hearts where scars left never seem to fade away. There are some things that time does not seem to mend. Hard to accept but true. But here's the funny part, No matter how or to what extent these people hurt you, yet you still love them.You still chose to be patient. One of the Laws of Nature is the ‘Limits of Tolerance'. There is a certain climax where one can bear a certain kind of pressure. When the â€Å"limit of tolerance† has been reached, the nature provides a feedback mechanism. We rise from dust, nature itself, and back to dust. These laws dwell In all of us. That's when we choose to stay away and give up every virtue of love. Yes. Maybe we've had our closures with them. Maybe we've given a good ending. But the worst comes into the picture when we still think of changing the past.Still wishing sometimes you were a better person, a stronger person to bear hurtful things that the one you love does. Wishing you had done things differently. Wishing â€Å"had they only changed† and what not. This Is when that fear, the fear of letting go grows In our hearts. In fact, some people want a space that is calm, inviting, and their own. For the students that attend Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University it is just that, a secluded welcoming part of ASU. Not only is Barrett a portion of ASU that seems distant from other dorms, it has its very own unique feel. You can walk into Palo Verde East or West, Manzanita, or even the University Tower and not have the open space that surrounds the†¦show more content†¦One thing remains true; the living spaces are phenomenal. From either living in Cottonwood, Cereus, or any other hall at Barrett you are definitely in for a treat. Each hall has a unique characteristic that makes them e xceptional. From the floor theme, to the lounge area each hall brings something different to the atmosphere at Barrett. When walking around the various halls you tend to feel like you’re in a three out of four-star hotel because everything is well kept, and refined, but also individualistic. Every hall has a multitude of floors, and each floor has a different theme. Themes could range from Toy Story to The Lego movie, or one could stand out and have a Harambe memorial in front of their living space. These various themes bring the multitude of living spaces together. Barrett is a distinct place on campus that has a lot to be discovered. While sitting and observing from one of many lounge areas, I observed that Barrett has a very strong community of students. In the span of time while I was there I did not notice anyone sitting and/or walking by themselves. Everyone had someone to communicate with, and make an everlasting bond with. That does resemble what could possibly happen in the Memorial Union, during a lunch or dinner rush, but at Barrett it is in a much more controlled setting with more space to breath.
